Hello everyone! This week I want to talk about gardening in your balcony or any space you have available at home. I myself love experimenting in these small spaces. I gives me time to think about each plant, monitor their growth in different conditions on a smaller scale. What I learn from growing in these smaller spaces I can apply to the farm on a larger scale.
We have many people getting in touch with us about how to grow vegetables and herbs in their compound and so I thought a simple video on how to start would be helpful. The key is always in germinating your seeds and growing it in the right medium with enough water and sunlight.
Many of our subscribers are avid home gardeners! There is truly no greater pleasure than eating the fruits our your labour and gardening has many other benefits as well for your mental health and well being in these trying times.
This week I’d like to show you some pictures from our long-term subscriber of Homegrown Farms, Remi Thelisso. These are plants in his balcony garden.
It is really beautiful and he has laid out his seedlings in a very efficient manner and it includes both leafy greens and fruiting vegetables. It must be so pleasant to tend to these plants and eventually harvest them and have them in your meal. He has even made a sprinkler system to water his seedlings effectively. So well done Remi!
Please write to us and tell us how we can support you. We can send you seeds and seedlings to try your hand at growing at home. Take a look at my video on how to germinate seeds successfully. Don’t fret if your seeds don’t germinate immediately, some plants take longer than others.
Stay tuned and journey with me on The Weekend Gardener.
